Help us Furnish the Baby Steps Bama House!
Hi friends I’m so glad you found us! We are so excited to share a special project that we’ve been working on! Myself (Chapple, @chapplechandler), alongside fellow designer/influencer Meredith Tolleson (@thesouthernsource) together are partnering with Baby Steps, an incredible nonprofit that empowers Student-Moms facing an unplanned pregnancy in college to have their education and their baby by providing housing, community, and support. Their newest Hub in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will serve as an uplifting resource for support for Student-Moms to live, study, connect, and thrive.
Set to open in January 2025, The Baby Steps at The University of Alabama is ready to open the doors and provide housing for Student-Moms facing an unplanned pregnancy. It’s in major need of some TLC and needs to be fully furnished for the first Student-Mom to arrive in January! To start, the Baby Steps team is painting the interior and deep cleaning the house. Meanwhile, Meredith and I have thoughtfully designed each room to reflect comfort, style, and functionality, and now we need your help to bring these designs to life!

Room-by-Room Designs: Bringing the Bama House to Life
We’ve carefully designed spaces that blend beauty, comfort, and practicality to meet the need of both Student-Moms and Tiny Trunks. Take a peek at the designs below and help us make this house a home!
The Bedrooms: Rest, Study, and Bond
Each Student-Mom’s room is designed to be a multifunctional haven, featuring a cozy glider for late-night feedings, a sturdy crib for the Tiny Trunks, and a beautiful desk where moms can study to pursue their degrees. The warm neutrals and thoughtful touches create a peaceful retreat where mom and baby can rest, connect, and grow together.

The Living Room: A Place to Connect and Feel at Home
The living room will serve as a central space for community, play, and relaxation. Designed with an inviting sectional sofa, comfy leather chairs, and plenty of soft, textured pillows and blankets, it’s the perfect spot for Student-Moms to unwind and bond with each other and their Tiny Trunks after long days. A cute play kitchen for the Tiny Trunks adds a touch of joy and family togetherness to the space.

About the Designers Behind the Project
The design for the Baby Steps Bama House is a special collaboration between Meredith Tolleson (The Southern Source) and myself, Chapple Chandler (@chapplechandler).
- Meredith Tolleson is a lifestyle, interiors and style blogger / influencer. She’s the creative mind behind The Southern Source — on Instagram (@thesouthernsource)–where she shares beautiful home styling, designer-for-less fashion finds, and modern cottage-inspired interiors.
- Chapple Chandler is an interiors blogger and style influencer. I am passionate about creating spaces that inspire, provide retreat, and bring togetherness.
