A Peter Rabbit–Inspired Birthday Party & Spring Tablescape
When it comes to children’s birthday parties, I love leaning into themes that feel imaginative, nostalgic, and timeless — and this Peter Rabbit birthday party celebration checked every single box. With soft blue gingham, garden textures, and sweet storybook details woven throughout, this party felt playful for the kids while still being beautiful and cohesive for the adults.
This setup was perfect for a spring birthday, but it would also translate beautifully for an Easter brunch or garden gathering. Today I’m sharing all the details — from the tablescape to the food spread — so you can recreate this charming look for your own celebration.

The Inspiration: A Classic Storybook Garden
The heart of this party was inspired by the timeless charm of Peter Rabbit. I wanted the space to feel like a storybook garden come to life — fresh, lighthearted, and full of little details that reward a closer look.
We built the palette around soft blues, whites, fresh garden greens, and real carrots. Blue gingham became the foundation, layered with natural textures like moss, greenery, and fresh florals to give the whole setup that “outdoor garden” feeling — even indoors.

The Tablescape: Gingham, Grass & Garden Details
The table was the heart of the party and where the Peter Rabbit theme really came to life. We started with a blue gingham tablecloth and ran a faux grass runner straight down the center to create a playful “garden path” effect.

To bring in height and texture, I started with a boxwood centerpiece filled with tulips, greens, and a Peter Rabbit cutout. We added a white painted wheel barrow filled with veggies from “Mr. McGregor’s Garden” like radishes and cabbage. We added some antique silver teapots for a whimsical touch around the table, and a carrot garland to finish off the look in such a fun, unexpected way.
Each place setting featured Peter Rabbit–themed plates layered on my Juliska china, with carrot-shaped cake plates and a rolled napkin placed at each seat. The mix of classic china and playful paper goods kept the table feeling elevated but still very kid-friendly.

The Food & Dessert Spread: Simple, Sweet, and Storybook-Inspired
I always try to keep party food approachable and easy — especially for kids’ birthdays — while still making the display feel special. We set up our food spread in the kitchen on the island, which is always easily accessible for everyone.

The food table featured vanilla cupcakes topped with Peter Rabbit toppers made on the Cricut and soft blue accents, displayed on tiered silver stands for height and visual interest. A simple white smash cake with a ONE banner anchored the spread and kept everything feeling clean and classic. And we had a floral centerpiece with carrots and hydrangeas to pull the theme together in a beautiful, whimsical way.

For the savory side, we served croissants, fruits and veggies, kid-friendly applesauce pouches, and bite-sized snacks that were easy for little hands to grab. Fresh berries, chocolate treats, and pastel candies were styled in white serving bowls to keep the color palette cohesive.
One of my favorite details was the carrot patch on the food table — fresh cut carrots dipped in ranch, nestled in flower pots among green grass and a picket fence serving tray. It added such a charming, garden-fresh moment and tied the entire theme together beautifully.

Decorative Touches That Made the Theme Feel Special
The magic of this party really came from the small details. Throughout the space, I added subtle nods to the Peter Rabbit story without overwhelming the setup.
Moss bunnies were scattered throughout, along with a moss number 1, while Peter Rabbit cutouts and printed elements were tucked into florals and displays. Silver frames and serving pieces, and soft blue bows appeared on wreaths and decor, bringing a gentle, heirloom-inspired feel to the space.
These little touches helped the theme feel intentional and cohesive — playful enough for kids, but polished enough to feel like a keepsake-worthy celebration.

A Party That Felt Joyful, Playful & Timeless
This Peter Rabbit birthday party was such a joy to put together. It felt light, happy, and full of spring charm — the kind of celebration that creates sweet memories without feeling overdone.
I love themes like this because they grow beautifully with your child and photograph so well year after year. Whether you’re planning a spring birthday, Easter gathering, or simply love storybook-inspired decor, this setup is one I would recreate in a heartbeat.
