Toddler Bedroom Makeover

If you’ve been following my Instagram for a while, then you may have seen my video reel and some pictures of my toddler’s bedroom makeover! In this post, I share all the room details and more pictures from this before and after room makeover!

When we moved into our new house, it was time for my toddler to upgrade to a big boy bed, so in the process of painting and redoing the whole house, we also made over my toddler’s woodland themed nursery!

Before and After

Before we started decorating my son’s room, we painted the walls, ceiling and trim Benjamin Moore Cloud Cover White (OC-25). We had the carpet professionally cleaned and it was stain free and ready to move in.

Concept

I wanted my toddler’s room to be one that was playful and imaginative, and also one that my son could grow into over the years without much change. We owned an antique full-size bed that would be a perfect transitional bed for him as he learns to sleep outside of his crib. That was our starting point.

Bedding

I wanted my son’s bedding to be sweet–but boyish. I found this Caitlin Wilson Design sailboat bedding that hit the perfect note. I painted the two sailboat paintings to match it. I don’t sell paintings, so I linked lots of sailboat paintings and decor for you throughout this post!

Details

In my son’s room, I wanted the details to be meaningful and simple. When decorating, I try to use family heirlooms when I have them. This wicker rocker was mine as a baby, and my mom still had it, so it definitely had to go in the room. My son loves sitting in “his” chair and reading. It is the sweetest thing.

I had some silver keepsakes I received from baby gifts and displayed them on his bookshelf next to an heirloom-style portrait I recently had done.

The nightstand was a facebook marketplace find, but I found a very similar rattan nightstand online and ordered it to match! I painted them both with yankee blue chalk paint.

Curtains

The curtains are nice and weighty, from Ballard Designs, and I love the quality. They are light blocking, which helps my toddler sleep longer :). They come in 4 different colors. The curtain rods are from Amazon! And I LOVE THEM! They were super easy to install, and I was surprised that the quality is so nice! Ballard has similar ones, and they have double rods if you want to layer curtains.
