A Baseball Boy Nursery

A client messaged me asking for help with her baby boy’s nursery design. The baby’s dad is a former baseball player and can’t wait to throw the ball with his son. He wanted to decorate the baby’s room with baseball decor. The mom wasn’t sure how to incorporate baseball into the nursery without it looking theme-y, and I wasn’t sure either, until I started playing with the idea. As I started this design challenge, I found some really cool vintage pieces, and then light bulbs started going off!
The room is painted light gray, and the client had gray nursery furniture, so I suggested a wide pinstripe wallpaper accent wall to give it a little more dimension. The pinstripe details in the bedding, wallpaper, storage bins, and hamper, are a nod to the sport’s vintage uniforms, without it being too in-your-face. I incorporated lots of sweet light blues soften the space throughout.
These vintage baseball glove, base, ball, mask and bat plans add a cool and interesting touch to the room as wall decor. They’re perfect for hanging over the changing table.
Every baby needs this snuggly “welcome home” gown, and this adorable blue bow swaddle for newborn pictures! The classic blue bonnet and silver rattle are timeless keepsakes to display on the baby’s bookshelf.
The custom, personalized baseball with baby handprints and footprints is also a nice accent. A baseball room wouldn’t be complete without a vintage or personalized baseball! There are couple of sweet options linked above. A baseball frame and bank, as well as a tummy time mat add to the baseball touches without being overwhelming.
The sweet toys I included are a big bear (with a blue bow: a must!), personalized letter blocks, and soft stuffed animal. I also found an adorable navy blue vintage car rocker that really pulls the vintage idea together!
This white wicker baby rocking chair is just like the heirloom one I have at home, and I’ve loved having it for baby pictures when baby gets bigger.
Hope baby Reese loves his nursery! Play ball!
