No demo reno! This stackstone fireplace has bothered me for way too long. The color had an orange and pink tone to it. It was giving 90s lake house. And it just looked busy to me.

I had to beg my husband for two years to let me try a DIY Mortar wash resurfacing technique on the stone. He finally gave in! To update it, I filled all the cracks with mortar, and then I did a mortar wash over the stones to tone down the color. I’ll do a follow up video later on exactly how I did this!

Feeling inspired to try it? Comment LINK and I’ll send you all the supplies I used to update my fireplace. I used white simple set mortar, but gray works too! Even though it’s white it’s actually more of a light gray color. The texture looks like stone so it still looks like stone, just toned down in color. You might want to test out both options, gray and white, before you start, as you might get a different result depending on the color of your stone!

We saved so much money refinishing our fireplace instead of replacing it. And don’t worry, Bo loves it! Send it to your guy if he’s anti-DIY. 😆

1. This dress is oversized, and so chic. The perfect Thanksgiving day dress, or fall family photo dress, and the details are my favorite: Pearl collar neckline, ruffle hemline and bow ties in the back.

2. The mini babydoll dress is above the knee but not too short- it’s the perfect party length. The fabric is not stretchy but it’s not too tight, it’s structured with breathable room, and flowy below the rib.

3. This is an elevated nap dress, perfect to dress up for a holiday cocktail or dress down for a date night at the wine bar. Subtle red and green work for Christmas but the black background makes it chic for all season long!

4. This @sailtosable jacket is reversible! You can wear this to your school events, preschool performance, or the pumpkin patch! I love the slight puff sleeve and this “cropped” length is on trend. I say cropped but really it’s just brushing the belt line.

5. Perfect fall workwear look! Loving this A-Line mini skirt, the length is appropriate for work or church. The scalloped ivory cutwork blouse is stunning and can be worn anytime of the year! These velvet bow flats might be sold out but I linked a similar option in a heel! Toddler not included 😄
