My Huntington House Sofa Review
In this post, I’m sharing why I chose Huntington House for our living room, the exact sofa and chair specifications I selected, what I learned during the buying process, and why—after living with this furniture—I’m genuinely so pleased with the decision.
If you’re in the middle of sofa shopping (or avoiding it because it feels overwhelming), consider this a real-life case study after doing the research, asking the questions, and living with the results.

The Sofa Selection Process
Sofa shopping is hard. It’s expensive, there are endless options, and it’s not always obvious what separates a sofa that looks good on delivery day from one that will still look and feel good years later.
After a deep research phase—outlined in Sofa Scoop Part One and Sofa Scoop Part Two—I landed on a North Carolina furniture company that has been making custom, high-quality sofas for over 35 years: Huntington House Furniture.
Huntington House is a 100% U.S.-based manufacturer, building furniture in the Carolina foothills using time-tested construction methods. Their pieces are made to last a decade or longer, which was exactly what I was looking for in a main living space.
In this post, you’ll see:
- My exact sofa, chair, fabric, and cushion specifications
- Before and afters of our living room
- What went wrong with my previous sofa
- Why Huntington House was the right solution
- Where to buy (including locally)

Problem Sofa & Solution: What Didn’t Work
The Problem Sofa
When I started looking for new sofas, I knew exactly what I didn’t want.
Our previous sectional (from Pottery Barn) had down-only cushions, and while it looked beautiful at first, it quickly became flat, slouchy, and uncomfortable. Because it was a sectional with down cushions, you could actually feel the bars between sections when you laid down—definitely not ideal for a space meant to be lived in every day.
The difference between that sofa and our new Huntington House sofas is night and day.

The Solution: Better Construction, Better Cushions
One of the biggest reasons I chose Huntington House was cushion construction.
Huntington House offers three cushion options:
- Down
- Soft-resilience
- High-resilience
Their down cushions are higher quality than most, with inner springs wrapped in foam and down as the outer layer—designed to prevent that overly squished look. That said, after my experience, I knew down-only wasn’t the right choice for our family.
I chose soft-resilience cushions, which are made with furniture-grade foam that offers a comfortable bounce while still returning to its shape. High-resilience cushions use the same construction but with less give and a firmer feel.
All Huntington House cushions use a 2.4-density foam core, which is considered top-quality and long-lasting.
I chose soft-resilience—and truly love it. The cushions hold their shape beautifully without feeling stiff, even with daily use.

Our Living Room Update
Along with new furniture, we refinished the floors, painted, updated lighting, and completely refreshed the space. The fireplace and built-ins are still on the list, but replacing the furniture alone made a huge impact. Visit my blog post to see more of my Living Room Makeover!

About Huntington House
Huntington House is a family-owned company with roots in the North Carolina furniture industry spanning three generations. Every piece is made in the Carolina foothills—an area known for its skilled craftsmen and long-standing furniture traditions.
Because Huntington House is a manufacturer, you don’t purchase directly from their website. Instead, you order through retail partners located across the U.S. Most retailers will also coordinate delivery to your home.
To find a retailer near you, use the “Where to Buy” section on the Huntington House website.
Where I Bought Ours (Birmingham Area)
Locally, I worked with Barnett’s Furniture in Trussville. Shannon at Barnett’s was incredibly knowledgeable and helped guide many of the decisions I shared in the earlier Sofa Scoop posts.

Carmen Brown, an interior designer on staff at Barnett’s, helped with space planning and fabric selection. Her biggest recommendation for families with kids was 100% polyester fabric for maximum stain resistance.
Performance or Crypton labels are a great starting point—but fabric content matters just as much. For durability and stain resistance, 100% polyester is key.
I can personally vouch for this: we’ve already had a major spill, and after following their cleaning advice (spraying with warm water and spot treating), there are no stains or water marks visible.
Check out Carmen’s Instagram and give her a follow! She shares lots of home decorating tips and inspo!

My Exact Sofa & Chair Specifications
Sofa Details
- Model: 3213-20 Sofas
- Fabric: performance polyester fabric 61510-62
- Cushions: Soft-resilience
The fabric appears darker online than in person and has performed beautifully in real life. The silhouette is elegant but relaxed, with sloped arms that feel both classic and modern.

Chair Specifications
- Model: 7270-58 Swivel Gliders
- Fabric: Banks Heron (performance velvet)
These chairs are a soft spa blue—almost a robin’s egg tone with a hint of green. The fabric looks darker on the website than in person. I opted for no skirt, as velvet skirts don’t always lay flat. This chair is also available in swivel-only or stationary options.
Pillows
Each sofa came with four throw pillows. I customized them by:
- Matching two pillows to the chairs in Banks Heron
- Adding a Greek key trim (T101-74)
- Choosing the remaining pillows in Hersey River, which subtly echoes the Greek key pattern
These small details made the sofas feel truly custom.

Final Thoughts
Choosing Huntington House was the result of research, experience, and learning from past mistakes. More than anything, this process reinforced what I’ve shared throughout the Sofa Scoop series: construction, cushion choice, and fabric matter far more than trends or brand names.
